The Dieppe Market has always been very proud to welcome vendors from here and elsewhere and support them in their entrepreneurial efforts.

This is why today we would like to introduce you to Axel Ojeda Diaz, newcomer of 20-year-old, courageous owner of Bello Berretto Pizza kiosk and youngest vendor at the Dieppe Market who, despite COVID-19, continues to radiate his joy. and good humor every Saturday at market!

Why did you decide to participate in the Dieppe Market?

“It was pure coincidence to be honest,” answers Axel.

When he was offered to take over Les Pizzas du Marché, which you probably know, the young entrepreneur and his partner, then aged 19 and 15 respectively, were not really pizza experts at the time but saw it as a learning opportunity.

“We only had 3 days of training before “flying solo”. It was risky but I absolutely do not regret my choice. Becoming an entrepreneur has allowed me to learn a lot and gain self confidence. It has allowed me to evolve both personally and professionally.

Taking over an already existing business with little experience, we first continued to offer the same products. Today I am constantly experimenting new recipes to offer items that will please both kids and adults. "

What are your specialties?

Bello Berretto Pizzas specializes in the production of thin crust and fresh pizzas cooked on site and ready to eat, available by the slice or personalized order.

"I prepare my pizza dough every Saturday morning at 4 am, so that it has time to rest while staying fresh before heading to the Dieppe Market. I love good things and I always do my best to offer the best product quality.”

But the young entrepreneur also offers products such as “pizza subs”, “pizza pocket”, more commonly known as “calzone” or even his famous Italian sausage rolls, coated in pizza dough, with a hint of pizza sauce and mozzarella, which are a hit every week!

Many would have thrown in the towel during the current situation, what motivates you to continue your activity?

“As a Canadian newcomer, I had to learn to adapt and it is an experience that I think has allowed me to persevere despite the pandemic. Although unfortunately I had to face, like many other vendors, my share of difficult choices too…”.

Axel and his partner worked as a team until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. He now operates alone due to the decline of the clientele but hopes for a return to normal in order to be able to work in pairs again.

“I remain optimistic and the support of our regular customers helps a lot and owning this business also allows me to eat pizza as often as I want and I love pizza!”.

And if you do too, Axel is waiting for you every Saturday at the Dieppe Market from 8 am to 1 pm at his kiosk!
