Halloween is right around the corner... And if your creative talents improve each year, one question persists: “What to do with the pumpkins leftover?”

Fall is the perfect season to relax and spend all your sunny Sundays afternoons on the front porch with a plaid, a delicious pumpkin latte and a good book. In other words… Time has come to take care of yourself!

The pumpkin has also skin benefits that could save time and money to all the beauty care lovers out there! Here are 5 ways to turn your leftover pumpkins into a 100% natural and local beauty product to protect your skin from winter aggressions until next year!

1 - A homemade natural body scrub!

There is nothing better than a good scrub to remove dead skin cells and feeling lighter. It helps refine the skin texture, stimulates cell renewal and improves the effectiveness of the care product subsequently applied.Exfoliants found at the pharmacy or supermarkets might however result too aggressive if you have sensitive skin… If this is your case, it’s time to recycle your leftover pumpkin!

By mixing some pumpkin puree, olive oil and a little bit of sugar until you get a thick texture, you will obtain a gentle scrub, with no allergens and no risk of irritation. (as long as you apply it gently, of course!)

2 - What about a pumpkin pedicure?

We can’t say 2020 summer was not lenient! Hikes and gardening days have however left their marks. As the temperatures are decreasing, it’s the perfect time to take a break, treat yourself and take care of your feet...

For a homemade pedicure, simply combine 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree with an egg and a teaspoon of honey, put on an old pair of socks after application and let the mixture sink in for at least 15 minutes before rinsing. Your feet will be like new!

3 - A revitalizing and local face mask!

Pumpkin contains enzymes and vitamin A, and honey is a great humectant that absorb moisture from the skin.

For a successful homemade mask, simply mix the pumpkin remains with honey after crushing them, until you get a smooth paste. Keep it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

4 - The ultimate shower body cream for a constant moisturized skin!

Does your skin often get sensitive after using general supermarkets cleaning products?

Then mix your pumpkin puree with coconut oil and take it in the shower with you. Applying it to your body before starting your usual routine will create a natural and protective barrier. Your skin will be smoother than ever!

5. Soft lips on the go!

The wind and the cold are usually hard on our skin and our lips are the first one to suffer from it!

By mixing 1/4 teaspoon of your pumpkin puree with 1/4 teaspoon of coconut oil, you will get your very own moisturizer in less than 5 minutes. You can also add 1/2 teaspoon of fine sugar to make an exfoliant...

Good news is it's an edible mixture… Which means that if you don’t have time to rinse it, especially if you are going for the scrub option, you can eat it on your way out!
